Meet the Veteran BCBAs® who Collaborated on the PTB Examen ABA Manual de Estudio 6ª Edición en Español

Preparing for the Big exam should be about mastering behavior analysis, not getting lost in translation. PTB is honored to have collaborated with veteran BCBAs and native Spanish speakers from around the world to adapt the English language PTB ABA Exam Study Manual to ensure accuracy and cultural relevance.

The Spanish-language content was translated by Carola Scolari, MS, BCBA, with translation peer review by Dr. Mariela Feldman, Ed.D., BCBA, QBA, and Carmen Ruiz-Ochoa, MA, BCBA. Technical review was provided by Dr. Javier Virués-Ortega, PhD, BCBA-D, of ABA España.

Based on the original, the Spanish translation organizes and breaks down the complete 6th Edition Test Content Outline, distilling foundational literature and the Cooper text into one peer-reviewed, quick-reference guide. It’s built for Spanish and bilingual practitioners working in Spanish-speaking communities, with relatable situational examples, detailed explanations, and visuals such as hints, exam tips, ethical considerations, and acronyms.

Together, these features help learners build fluency with key technical terminology and scientific concepts in their native or primary language.

Why Your Supervisees Aren’t Speaking Up (and What to Do About It)

Effective supervision depends on supervisees feeling safe enough to ask questions, acknowledge mistakes, seek feedback, and raise concerns. In this conversation between PTB scholar-in-residence Tyra Sellers (J.D., Ph.D., BCBA-D) and Dr. Bridget Taylor, psychological safety is explored through a behavior-analytic lens. Drawing on Amy Edmondson’s work, they examine how supervisory practices, power differentials, reinforcement histories, and organizational contingencies can encourage or discourage these important behaviors.

This free session connects to TCO I.2 (Identify and apply strategies for establishing effective supervisory relationships).

As you prepare for the exam, consider how a supervisor’s responses to questions, errors, and concerns might reinforce or punish future communication. Practice identifying supervisory behavior that promotes psychological safety and selecting strategies that encourage open communication while maintaining accountability and performance expectations. Think about how you would respond to exam scenarios involving supervisees who hesitate to ask for help, disclose mistakes, or raise concerns, and how your responses could strengthen or undermine the supervisory relationship.
