Differential negative reinforcement of incompatible or alternative behavior (DNRI & DNRA)

A differential reinforcement procedure used to reduce or eliminate challenging behavior that involves withholding negative reinforcement for the occurrence of the challenging behavior and providing negative reinforcement for a functionally equivalent alternative or incompatible behavior.
