Differential reinforcement of incompatible behavior (DRI)

A variation of the differential reinforcement of alternative behavior procedures used to eliminate challenging behaviors. It involves withholding reinforcement for the occurrence of the challenging behavior and providing reinforcement for a functionally equivalent alternative behavior that is incompatible with the target behavior (i.e., the individual cannot engage in the target behavior while performing the incompatible response).

6th Edition TCO
