Respondent extinction

When a previously neutral stimulus that was paired with an unconditioned stimulus to become a conditioned stimulus that elicits a conditioned response is presented repeatedly without the unconditioned stimulus, and the conditioned stimulus resumes its neutrality and no longer elicits the conditioned response.
