Summer is (un)officially on. Do your plans include studying for the BCBA® exam? Don’t let test prep put a bummer on your summer. PTB has four tips that will help you hit the books this season.
#1: Study On the Go
Incorporate studying in your day-to-day routine, during moments of downtime. Listen to audiobooks, podcasts, or the PTB Streaming Lecture Series on your commute. If you’re in between items on your to-do list, or if you’re waiting in line, use that time to study with ABA flashcards, SAFMEDS, or the PTB FlashMEDS.
#2: Take It Outside
Take advantage of the warmer weather and take your BCBA® test prep outdoors. Sunlight has proven health benefits, including better sleep and enhanced mood. Some studies have even shown that sun exposure may promote alertness and improved cognitive performance. When you’re catching rays, trade off between the latest beach read and the PTB ABA Exam Study Manual– just don’t forget the sunglasses and sunscreen.
#3: Use the Power of Reinforcement
If all else fails, try using the power of reinforcement. Have something fun planned? Consider that a reward for your studying. Need ideas for other summer incentives? How about a mani/pedi, a nice refreshing drink or your favorite frozen treat?
#4: Fuel Up with Summer Fruits
Summer is peak season for some of the best brain-boosting fruits. Think strawberries, pineapples, blueberries. All of the heavy hitters. Not only do they contain important nutrients, but they also keep you hydrated, which is crucial for brain function. Need some inspiration for how to fuel your next study session?
